Stringer Road

This extensive renovation and extension was architecturally designed to take full advantage of the site’s natural contours. The result is a calm, private coastal home where architecture and landscape work together to amplify views, improve environmental performance and create generous entertaining spaces.



Designed as a multi-generational home with five bedrooms and three living areas, the layout offers flexibility and privacy for families of all sizes. The floorplan is organised around the block’s slope so each living zone captures treelined views and natural light. Split-level planning places main living and entertaining spaces on the high side of the site to maximise privacy and outlook. Secondary accommodation and utility spaces are arranged on the lower contour to create separation between guest and family wings while reducing the need for invasive excavation.

Elevated decks and the open-plan kitchen, dining and family room step gently with the land to create seamless transitions from interior to exterior. The infinity-edge pool sits on a terraced platform that follows the natural fall, creating an uninterrupted visual connection to the reserve and allowing the pool to appear suspended above the garden. Retaining walls are expressed as clean dry-stack limestone features that double as garden terraces and informal seating. Natural textures and materials were used throughout to enhance the landscape and create a harmonious connection between built form and environment.
